My decision to become a counsellor came from wanting to be able to support the young people in my form group when I worked as a secondary school teacher. I found that teenagers often benefitted from having someone listen to them without telling them what to do or try to fix things and I quickly discovered that this required skills I had yet to develop! After I'd completed my diploma in counselling, it felt natural to continue working with children and young people as well as with adults and I have enjoyed working with both client groups throughout my career.
Currently, I am a lead counsellor in two primary schools and I see adults in private practice. I am a qualified supervisor, working with supervisees who work in private practice, schools, agencies and healthcare settings. Additionally, I am a tutor teaching the CPCAB Therapeutic Counselling Level 4 course, training students to become qualified counsellors.
My qualifications:
2006 Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Counselling
2008 Awarded British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Accreditation
2020 Level 6 Diploma in Counselling Supervision
2021 Level 6 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People
I am an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling Psychotherapy and follow their ethical framework.
I have specific training in online counselling.
I have a DBS check and hold professional liability insurance.
